Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated the much awaited Make in Odisha conclave, the largest ever investors' meet that aims to showcase Odisha as a favoured investment destination for both metal and non-metal industries.
In his brief address to the gathering, Naveen said that the policy ecosystem and the investment opportunities showcased in the expo would help in attracting significant investments into the state and generating higher employment for the people. Industries captain like Tata Steel MD T V Narendran, SanDisk CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, CII president Naushad Forbes, embassy officials of different countries and members of the state council of ministers were among who attended the inaugural ceremony that followed a scintillating cultural evening to display Odisha's rich culture and heritage. Naveen flanked by other dignitaries moved across the expo through a battery-operated vehicle attended by around 100 industrial units and public sector undertakings.
A separate pavilion has been erected by the organizers to showcase Odisha's investment potential, industrial ecosystem and manufacturing prowess. The eight policies recently approved by the state government are also put on display at the Odisha theme pavilion.
India's cutting edge defence creations like Agni, Prithvi, BrahMos and Akash and Sukhoi aircrafts engine manufacturing in Odisha are also part of the conclave.
Besides the mining and metal sectors Odisha looks for investment from sectors like food processing including seafood, chemicals, petrochemicals and plastics, textiles and apparel, defence manufacturing, electronics, start-ups and tourism. As Bhubaneswar tops among the list of possible smart city mission programme, the state government also looks for international partners to execute smart city projects.
