SUBJECT : National Wildlife Week 


State ENVIS Hub, Centre for Environmental Studies(CES) under the Department of Forest & Environment, Govt. of Odisha, Bhubaneswar organized an wildlife protection awareness meeting, plantation & single use plastic/polythene free campaign activities on the occasion of 64th National Wildlife Week on 06.10.2018 at 9.30 AM at Jhunjhunwala Bidyapitha, Bhubaneswar involving local eco-club students, teachers and local public. On this event, drawing & painting competition, debate, drama were organized and selected students were awarded on the same day. The wildlife week is celebrated in India every year from 2nd October, coinciding with the birth day of Mahatma Gandhi.

Wildlife Week is dedicated to create awareness to the general people towards the wildlife preservation or by doing some special activities connected with the wildlife conservation and with a view to preserve the fauna means the animal life of the India.

Dr. Ashutosh Debata, Director-cum-ENVIS Coordinator, CES inaugurated this program and he told that we must be aware towards the noble cause of this week and we should take care of our nature properly.

Mr. Niranjan Behera, District Education Officer, Cuttack presided in this program and he emphasized to protecting and conserving the wildlife in our state and their habitats too.

Mr. Prabodh Chandra Rout, District Emergency Officer, Cuttack told about the theme and importance of the wildlife conservation.

Mr. Paravat Mohan Dash, Programme Officer; Mr. Prashanta Nayak, Information Officer; Dr. Arjun Biswal, Project Officer; Mr. Ramakanta Praharaj, District Science Supervisor; Smt. Sabita Behera, Headmistress; Mr. Chitta Ranjan Behera, Eco-club Teacher were present and discussed all the issues related to the preservation of wildlife and shared how to make people more aware of the conservation and protection of the wild life.

A large number of students & school teachers of Jhunjhunwala Bidyapitha; Fullapakhari High School & Madhuban Girls High School and nature lovers attended the programme and shared their ideas on this occasion.
