Inauguration of Certificate Course on Eco-Tourism under Green Skill Development Programme of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on 12.11.2018.


The inauguration of Eco-Tourism Certificate Course on the Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) was held on dated 12.11.2018 at 10:00 A.M. at State ENVIS-Hub, Centre for Environmental Studies (CES), Forest & Environment Department, Government of Odisha, Bhubaneswar duly supported by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change,  Govt. of India. The inaugural ceremony of this certificate course was presided by Prof. Dr. Ashutosh Debata, Director, CES and State Coordinator ENVIS, in presence of Chief Guest Dr. Sandeep Tripathi, IFS, PCCF (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden, Odisha, Hon’ble Guests Dr.  Harsabardhan Udagata, DFO, Puri Wildlife Division and Dr. Kedar Kumar Swain, DFO, Chandaka Wildlife, Bhubaneswar also spoke on the occasion. Sri Pravat Mohan Dash, Programme Officer, Sri Prasanta Kumar Nayak, Information Officer; Dr. Arjun Kumar Biswal, Project Officer; Sri Hemanta Kumar Das, Project Officer; Dr. Rajesh Kumar Mohanta, Project Co-ordinator; Sri Bharat Ch Jena, Project  Asst. and other CES Office staff also monitored such observance in befitting manner.


In the inaugural address, Dr. Ashutosh Debata, Coordinator highlighted about the basic course of Eco-Tourism and how it is responsible travel to natural area, that conserve the environment and improves the well being of local people. Under this programme a candidate can improve his/her basic skills to manage and certain Eco-Tourists   and maximize his or her Eco-Tourism experience.




The Chief Guest, Dr. Sandeep Tripathi released a book titled as “Concept of Eco Tourism” edited and published by State ENVIS Hub, the resource kits were supplied to each of the trainee. Shri Suresh Chandra Mahapatra,  Addl. Chief Secretary, Forest & Environment Department, Govt. of Odisha; Dr. Debabrata Swain, PCCF, Odisha and  Dr. Sandeep Tripathi, PCCF, Wildlife and Chief Wildlife Warden also sent their message for success of this green venture taken up by the State ENVIS HUB, CES, Odisha.

Dr. Tripathi, PCCF(Wildlife) described about importance of eco tourism at 38 nos. of sites in Odisha and about utilization of resources and how Government revenue is increasing from 1.5 – 3.5 crores year by year from the eco tourism sites.



Dr. Kedar Swain, DFO, Chandaka Wildlife added about the positive aspects and benefit of the course and how it will benefits participant in the long run in different tourist places.
